This year
has been the most interesting I've had since I'm in university, because I have very
intresting subjects and really good teachers, and I have learned a lot. But if
I should choose only one subject, I choose “Analysis“.
In the
analysis classes, we study how music is structured, identify motives, phrases,
sections and how music is articulated as a discourse.
The
contents of the subject are based on the study of musical forms. During this
semester we have studied binary forms, song form, ternary forms (simple and
compound) and the rondó form. We study this forms. We study the musical forms
by reading and analyzing scores of great composers such as Haydn, Mozart,
Beethoven and Chopin.
I like this
subject because a new world of knowledge was opened for me. Is very fascinating
understand how the musicals works are maded and the functionality of which
parts, phrases, etc. Is very fascinating understand how the music are naked and
the functionality of differents parts, phrases, tonality, chords, repetitions,
etc.
Apart from
this degree, I study orchestral conducting on my own and this knowledge has
become an invaluable weapon to face the study of the works.
I hate not being able to concentrate on this subject :(
